STOCKHOLMS MEST SPÄNNANDE HOTELL OCH MÖTESPLATS

PRESS RELEASE 12 MAY 2004

The Rival Hotel in Stockholm makes another Hot List

The Rival Hotel in Stockholm has already won praise from Vogue and Business Traveller magazines. Now Condé Nast Traveller has declared it one of the “World’s Best Places to Stay,” including it in their prestigious Hot List of the world’s coolest new hotels.

The May issue of the British luxury travel magazine lists 50 hotels around the globe that “share a singular sense of style and place that sets them apart from even the best of the rest.” The Rival is the only Swedish hotel on the list. The magazine raves about the hotel’s “fantastic beds,” “sumptuous” cinema, and “first class café and bakery,” and declares that the Rival is “breathing new life into the Stockholm hotel scene.”

Only eight months after its grand opening, the Rival has earned plenty of attention from the world’s press. The American edition of Vogue included the Rival in a list of ten hot things in Sweden, a list that also included Crown Princess Victoria, Stockholm’s most famous interior design store, Svenskt Tenn, and even classic Swedish meatballs.

In a survey of “stylish and affordable places to stay worldwide” the April edition of the British magazine Business Traveller included only one hotel in Scandinavia, The Rival. The magazine made special mention of the hotel’s pillow menu, all-day breakfast, wide selection of fine wines by the glass, and plasma-screen TVs with Sony DVDs and Playstations in all rooms.

And now Condé Nast Traveller has included it in their annual Hot List of the world’s best new hotels. The magazine says the Rival is “already established as a local hub” on Södermalm, the city’s “trendy southern island”. Their verdict on the Rival? “It’s fun and hard to resist.”

The Rival Hotel is a boutique hotel that opened 1st September 2003. The hotel is owned by Benny Andersson, Christer Hägglund and Christer Sandahl.
